How does the matching process work?
After each date, use the app to select who you’d like to see again. If there are mutual matches, you’ll receive a notification with a link to access the app. The next morning, we’ll share contact details for your matches so you can plan future dates. Initial communication will be on the app.

How do I know I am registered?
When you register with a credit card online, a receipt will be sent to your email. You will then receive an email reminder the morning or early afternoon of the event, reminding you that you are registered and confirming the date, start time, and location. Please email info@singleiinthecity.ca by 2pm est if you do not get this reminder email, we may have the wrong information for you.
How many people can I expect to meet at your events?
Each event varies: at speed dating, you’ll meet 10-15 people, while mixers/dances have 40-100 attendees and activity-based events usually feature 18-25 participants. We aim for balanced gender ratios, but if attendance is uneven, the host may offer a discount for future events.
How many people will I meet at a speed dating event?
Each event is different and will run with a minimum of 9 dates to a maximum of 20 dates depending on the event. keep in mind, we can start off with this number but sometimes people do not show up and that is not in our control. If the numbers are very skewed, the host may offer a discount to use towards a future event
How much does an event cost?
Each event or activity has a different price; please check the event details for price.
How strict are the age ranges?
We offer a 2-3 year leeway on the listed ages to be more inclusive.
If I don’t have a credit card or debit card how can I pay?
We accept e-transfers at info@singleinthecity.ca—just email us first, then send the payment.
Is it safe to pay with my credit card over the internet?

At Single in the City, we offer a secure online registration system for processing credit card payments. If you’re uncomfortable using your credit card online, we can also take your reservation over the phone. To register by phone, simply email us at info@singleinthecity.ca, letting us know you’d like to pay over the phone or via Interac, and we’ll guide you through the process.
Please try to contact us at least a week before your chosen event to avoid it selling out. Keep in mind that leaving a message by email does not reserve your spot—you must speak with a representative and provide payment to secure your ticket. For quicker registration, booking online is recommended.
Once I buy a ticket to speed dating what happens?
After purchasing your speed dating ticket, you’ll receive a receipt via email or SMS. On the event day, you’ll get a confirmation email with details. Check in with the host, and each mini-date lasts 3-5 minutes. Use the app to select matches, and we’ll share mutual contact details the next morning.
What are the ages for the event?
Our events generally target single men and women between the ages of 26- 60. Each event will have a specific age range listed. We do not have as many events for the 50+ age group as they are more challenging to fill. Check our events calendar periodically for events in your age range.
What are the requirements for the service?

What happens if an event does not fill or gets canceled?
If an event does not fill, we will likely postpone it and transfer your reservation. If an event is canceled by us due to not filling, you will have the option of a credit towards any future event or a full refund.
What if I’m out of the age range?
We offer a 1-4 year flexibility on the age range for each event, allowing you to decide if it’s right for you. After all, when it comes to dating, keeping an open mind is key—and sometimes, age really is just a number!
What if there are unequal numbers of men and women?
We do not guarantee equal numbers of men and women at our mixers, parties, or dances, but we make every effort to keep the male-to-female ratio as balanced as possible. However, please keep in mind that sometimes people purchase tickets and don’t show up, which is beyond our control.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made at least 5 business days before the speed dating event to qualify for a refund. Please note that the 2.5% + $0.30 credit card processing fee is non-refundable. Credits may be offered based on individual circumstances; however, cancellations due to your friend being unable to attend with a purchased pair of tickets do not qualify. Unfortunately, no credits will be issued for cancellations made on the day of the event.
What is the duration of your events?
Speed dating, mixers and activity based events generally last anywhere from 2.5 – 3 hours, dances typically last 4 hours.
What is your event format?
Speed dating offers several quick 5-7 minute dates in one evening, where you decide who you’d like to see again.
Mixers are more casual, often starting with an icebreaker and cocktail-style mingling.
Activity events involve shared interests and participation.
What should I wear to a mixer or speed dating event?
We recommend a smart casual dress code—look put-together but comfortable. Dress to impress while being yourself! ie.
Men: Crisp button-down or polo with jeans or chinos; loafers or leather sneakers.(no runners)
Women: Stylish top with fitted jeans or a casual dress; ankle boots, flats or heels.
No hats or joggers—just keep it sharp for a great night!

What’s the goal of speed dating?
The purpose of speed dating is to give singles the opportunity to meet and connect with several potential matches in a short amount of time. It offers a fun, efficient way to quickly determine chemistry and shared interests through brief, face-to-face conversations.
When will I get my match results?
Your matches will be sent out at 9 AM the morning after the event. You’ll receive an email or text notification letting you know that your matches have been posted. You will get an email regardless if you have any matches. Simply follow the link provided to view your matches online. From there, you can communicate with your matches through the app and take the conversation offline as you wish.
Why are some of the ages for men and women different?
Some events have different age ranges for men and women to accommodate preferences for dating older or younger people. For those who prefer otherwise, we also host events with the same age group for both genders. Additionally, we offer a 2-3 year leeway on the listed ages to be more inclusive.
Why do I need to book in advance?
To ensure a successful Speed Dating event, we need to maintain an equal balance of men and women and prevent the event from being overbooked.
Will food and drink be provided at the parties?
Most parties will have complimentary appetizers and a cash bar, however each event is different. Be sure to check what is included with the event you are attending.
